Hamburg Airport (HAM) has one main terminal building divided into Terminal 1 (T1) and Terminal 2 (T2), connected airside and landside via a central passage on the same level - no shuttle required, walking time approximately 5–8 minutes. T1 handles primarily Lufthansa, Eurowings, and Star Alliance carriers; T2 handles easyJet, Ryanair, and most other LCCs. Both terminals share a unified departures hall and arrivals level.

All major rental counters are located on the ground floor (Ebene 0) of the arrivals area, accessible directly after baggage claim in both T1 and T2 - no separate rental building or shuttle required. Counter area is signposted 'Mietwagen' and is open typically 06:00–23:00 daily, though hours vary by brand. Vehicle pickup is from the multistorey car park P2 (Parkhaus P2), directly opposite the terminal, approximately 150 meters on foot.
